Restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic have made the process of transferring from Camden County College a bit more difficult.

College officials have worked to ease the process, offering as many in-person meeting opportunities as they can, but some parts of the process have changed. Before the pandemic struck, tasks such as meeting with transfer services representatives from Camden County College and the institutions to which the students wanted to transfer were simple. Now, not so much. Many of these tasks have had to move online.

Frank McDonnell, a student at Camden County College, is set to transfer to Rowan University for the spring 2021 semester. “I have gone through most of the process online. Before the virus, I figured I would meet with student services and go through most of the process with them,” McDonnell said. “I did most of it myself, with a little help from a friend who is at Rowan already.”

McDonnell called the online process a bit challenging. “I am not an expert with the transfer process, so I ran into many issues that would have been more easily solvable during an in-person meeting with people who knew what they were doing,” McDonnell said.

Jennifer Entwistle, another Camden County College student, is in the process of transferring to Rutgers University. “I’m struggling with the transfer process,” Entwistle said. “If not for the COVID-19 pandemic, I would freely be able to make in-person appointments with transfer specialists both at CCC and Rutgers to aid me in this process. Due to the virus, however, I’m restricted to emails, phone calls and what I can find online.”

Entwistle added, “Overall, it’s been a huge source of stress and difficulty compared to the pre-pandemic process of making in-person appointments for guidance.”

According to the Camden County College website, in-person visits with transfer services representatives can be done only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students must make appointments for these visits. The appointments can be set up by completing a form at http://www.camdencc.edu/admissions-financial-aid/transfer-services or emailing transferservices@camdencc.edu.
