Before the game in the Papiano Gymnasium on the Blackwood campus, Head Coach Chip Reitano described the Lady Cougars’ game plan against the undefeated Lady Bulldogs. “When playing an undefeated team in the region, it’s tough but my girls live a challenge and always give their best effort,” Reitano said. The key points of the game were “to play relaxed, make a statement on the defensive end, play 3-2 zone and make them use other plays while keeping them out the middle of the floor, limit the turnovers, stay consistent and control the clock.”

The Lady Bulldogs led 19-0 at the end of the first quarter and 35-15 going into halftime. Coming out of halftime, Reitano discussed the adjustments the Lady Cougars intended to make in the second half. “We didn’t take good care of the ball. We have 12 turnovers, which is way too many. We relied on number 2 Alexys Kasprzak too much also. We have to get other players involved and stay consistent on offense,” Reitano said.

At that time, Kasprzak described the adjustments she hoped the team would make in the second half. “I want to get my teammates more involved, better passing, also to work the ball inside out for more open shots and to run the floor better,” she said.

The Lady Bulldogs led 49-18 at the end of the third quarter and won the game by 40 points.

Kasprzak was the leading scorer for the Lady Cougars with 21 points. Liana Martinez was the leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with 25 points.
