BLACKWOOD – Self-portraits and spaceship replicas are among the works on display at the 52nd Annual Student Art Show from April 24 to May 7 in the Marlin Art Gallery at Camden County College.
Art Gallery Director Scott Bonette said he encouraged students to submit works for consideration for the show.
“Students are allowed to submit three pieces for review and a group of outside judges makes the decision,” he said.
An awards ceremony took place on the opening night of the show. Art department faculty members chose winners in several categories.
Sarah Ryan was awarded the best in painting for her oil self-portrait titled “A Moment in Time.” The 22-year-old from Turnersville said she has been drawing for almost all of her life.
“I’ve been doing it professionally for about five years. This is the fourth year I’ve been selected to display my art,” she said.
Ryan said the self-portrait took her about three hours to complete. She had another piece in the show. It’s called “The Marketing Muse,” which she dedicated to her mother, who recently obtained a new job in the marketing field.
