BLACKWOOD – When one approaches a vending machine, they’re more than likely to go for the chips or the cookies with no question. There are somewhat healthier choices such as crackers and fruit snacks but they don’t stand a chance.

For college students, this might not be beneficial in the long run. Not only may the healthier choices be less appealing, they may cost a tad more as well.

In the debate over what to stock and what to buy in vending machines at Camden County College, here is a recent question-and-answer with two students.

Faith Majette, 20, of Sicklerville

Q: Do you think there should be a more affordable healthy option sold in the vending machines?

A: Yes, I do believe that most students are working and deserve an affordable healthy snack while on the go.

Q: Sam’s Club has recently unveiled a vending machine within their clubs that only contains water bottles for 25 cents each. Do you think Camden County College would benefit from something like that?

A: Absolutely. I think that would be very successful among students.

Q: How do you feel about the price of a water bottle in the vending machines which is $1.75?

A: I feel as though it’s a tad high.

Mimi Hoang, 20, of Haddonfield
