BLACKWOOD – Camden County College on April 9 held its annual open house in an effort to bring in new students for the upcoming semester. With a few adjustments from past open houses, this year’s event was considered one of the most successful yet.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., coordinators could see this open house would have a big turnout, as students and their families showed up early to see what Camden County College has to offer. Volunteering students and faculty members, along with newly appointed college President Don Borden, were ready to help anyone with questions about the school.

For the first time, CCC offered a tour of the campus via Cougar bus. Despite the winter-like mix of snow, sleet and rain, the new tour bus was a hit.

Bus tours were not the only changes that were seen this year. Representatives from TD Bank were present at the event with a stand offering information about their company and the financial literacy course they plan to teach at CCC. One of the TD representatives at the event, Assistant Manager Claire Peggs, said they “Wish to help new students learn more about banking.”

Steve D’Ambrosio, director of admissions for CCC, who also was present at the event, said, “The open house is one of our best events of the year. Students become familiar with teachers and staff and the classes that we have to offer. We offer students a great education that is much more affordable than a university.”

With the school’s financial aid services present, it wasn’t difficult for prospective students to learn about the tuition help CCC can offer them.

Coordinator of Recruitment Melanie Monturano, a key organizer of the open houses, aided families with their questions and needs at the event. For the entire event, she could be seen doing laps around the floor of the Connector Building making sure everyone was content.

“Open house is one of our biggest events of the year. We love meeting new faces of prospective students that we hope to see on campus in the fall,” Monturano said. “CCC is truly a great place to start.”
