The Camden County College Bookstore has been selling ugly Christmas attire as a part of the Ugly Holiday Collection. The collection appeared in the bookstore in October, giving students plenty of time to pick up an ugly item before Christmas. The collection is also offered on the Camden County College Bookstore website, http://www.camdencc.bncollege.com.

The items come in two different designs. One is a sweater that is blue and white with yellow accents. It features reindeer, snowflakes and holly. It reads Camden County College across the sweater. It is 65 percent polyester and 35 percent viscose jersey. The sweater costs $34.98. Sizes offered in the bookstore are small, medium and large. However, online, the sweater is offered in extra small, small, medium, large, extra large, and extra extra large.

The other is a long-sleeved black T-shirt. It displays the body of a Christmas elf so when someone puts it on, their head is in the spot the elf’s head should be. The Camden County College Cougar is placed right below the elf’s collar. The T-shirt is 100 percent cotton. It costs $21.98. Sizes offered in the bookstore are small, medium and large. However, online, the shirt is offered in extra small, small, medium, large, extra large, extra extra large, and triple extra large.

Camden County College Bookstore employee Kristin Tomasetti does not own one herself, but she has seen them around the school.

“I have not rung anyone up for one yet. But I did see a student walk out the door with one today. And I also saw another girl with one a few weeks ago,” Tomasetti said.

Camden County College Bookstore employee Joyce Jefferson has sold some of the ugly items.

“I have rung people up for them. A few employees bought some. We transferred some to the Camden campus because the buyer there saw them and thought they were cute and wanted to stock them,” Jefferson said.

One of the employees who bought the sweater, part-time bookstore employee Chanelle Hamlet, seems content with her purchase.

“The sweater is very comfortable. It is also great quality and definitely a good buy,” Hamlet said.

In a related development, an Ugly Sweater Contest will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Connector Building Atrium on the Blackwood campus. Put on the ugliest sweater you can find, enter the contest and the winner will receive shirts from the Ugly Holiday Collection.
