On Saturday April 26th, Haddon Township held their 6th Annual Go Green Event. Vendors from all over the area came to sell their homemade items and to promote the importance of recycling. There was food and live music and families walking their dogs, it was a pretty popular event. There was a girl walking around wearing trash bags to represent how much people throw away every year. There was also a mini car that had a cart in the trunk area where there was a garden growing.
Children were making different crafts and one woman had a table full of handmade jewelry she made herself. People were selling anything from jewelry to product cleaners that were environmentally friendly. There was a Goodwill truck collecting used clothes for people who could not afford new ones. They were recycling the clothes and turning them into new outfits. One group was raising money for The Plastic Ocean Project.
The Plastic Ocean Project is a group of volunteers that take the time to clean our beaches. All the bottles they collect, they keep to turn into an art piece. They collect nearly 10,000 plastics in three oceans. Recently the organization made a wave sculpture out of the bottles.
